Supported bulbs
Rhythm doesn't talk to bulbs by brand — it talks through a light hub. If your bulbs are reachable through one of these, Rhythm can drive them:
- Philips Hue — any bulb on a Hue Bridge (v2 API). The most mature path. Set up Hue →
- Home Assistant — any
lightentity HA already controls: Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, you name it. Set up Home Assistant → - Matter — Matter-over-Wi-Fi bulbs, commissioned straight onto the LightHub. Set up Matter →
For adaptive lighting to look its best, the bulb should be at least dimmable; tunable-white (adjustable color temperature) bulbs get the full circadian effect. Color bulbs work too — Rhythm renders the target temperature as a color. On/off-only bulbs are controlled, but only switch, since there's nothing to ramp.
Picking a hub
Have a Hue Bridge or Home Assistant already? Use it — those paths are the
most capable today. Starting fresh with Matter bulbs? Pair them directly.
The light-hub pages cover the specifics
of each.
