This guide answers a smart-lighting or Matter lighting question and translates
it into a practical checklist for Rhythm users. If you are pairing compatible
Matter lights, the Rhythm Lighting LightHub can commission them from the
Rhythm app: choose Add Device, select Matter, then scan the
QR code or paste the MT: payload / 11-digit setup code. The
LightHub performs the commissioning handshake and keeps the device on your
Matter fabric.
Short answer
If a Kajplats bulb blinks but never appears for pairing, slow down and confirm the protocol path. Some IKEA lights can behave differently depending on whether they are being paired through IKEA, Hue, HomeKit, Matter, or a Zigbee touchlink workflow. A visible blink is not always the same as the commissioning mode your chosen controller expects.
Pairing checklist
- Use the reset sequence from the exact Kajplats manual and wait for the final confirmation blink.
- Bring the bulb close to the hub for first pairing, then move it back after it joins.
- Try the native IKEA flow before assuming a third-party bridge can add every feature.
- If using Hue or another bridge, confirm that bridge supports the bulb model and pairing method.
- After touchlink or forced pairing, test on/off, brightness, and color before installing the bulb in a fixture.
Pairing with Rhythm
If the bulb exposes a Matter setup code and is compatible with Rhythm, commission it from the Rhythm app with LightHub. If it is being used as Zigbee-only through another bridge, pair it there first and expose the room to Rhythm through that supported hub path.
Pairing with Rhythm
For Matter lights and bulbs, the LightHub is the bridge between the app and the device during pairing. Keep the LightHub, phone, and device on the same local network, keep Bluetooth enabled when the device requires BLE commissioning, and make sure the setup code has not expired or already been used by another fabric. Once paired, the LightHub can control the device locally as part of your Rhythm setup.
