This guide answers a smart-lighting or Matter lighting question and translates it into a practical checklist for Rhythm users. If you are pairing compatible Matter lights, the Rhythm Lighting LightHub can commission them from the Rhythm app: choose Add Device, select Matter, then scan the QR code or paste the MT: payload / 11-digit setup code. The LightHub performs the commissioning handshake and keeps the device on your Matter fabric.

Use a room, zone, or fixture group

When one physical lamp contains multiple smart bulbs, treat those bulbs as one logical fixture. Most lighting systems let you put the bulbs in the same room, create a zone, or assign them to a grouped control so one brightness change applies to all of them.

Setup tips

  1. Name each bulb clearly first, such as floor lamp top, floor lamp middle, and floor lamp bottom.
  2. Put the bulbs in the same room or create a dedicated zone for the lamp if the room also has other lights.
  3. Set all three bulbs to the same color mode. Mixing color bulbs with white-only bulbs can make scenes look mismatched.
  4. Build scenes at the group level, not by adjusting only one bulb at a time.
  5. If the lamp is controlled by a wall switch, keep the switch on and use app, button, or automation control so the bulbs stay reachable.

When a dedicated zone is better

If the lamp is in a larger living room, a zone is usually cleaner than making a separate room. The room can still control every light together, while the zone lets the three-bulb lamp dim as one fixture for reading, movie, or evening scenes.

Using Rhythm

Rhythm imports rooms from supported lighting systems and can control compatible Matter lights through the LightHub. For Matter bulbs in one fixture, pair each bulb by scanning its Matter QR code or entering its setup code while the phone, LightHub, and bulbs are on the same local network, then place them into the right room so they follow the same adaptive lighting behavior.

Pairing with Rhythm

For Matter lights and bulbs, the LightHub is the bridge between the app and the device during pairing. Keep the LightHub, phone, and device on the same local network, keep Bluetooth enabled when the device requires BLE commissioning, and make sure the setup code has not expired or already been used by another fabric. Once paired, the LightHub can control the device locally as part of your Rhythm setup.
