This page is the short version: how to pair the Xiaomi Smart LED Bulb (White and Color) with your Rhythm LightHub using the Rhythm app. For the deep version — the why, the protocol notes, the cross-fabric edge cases — see the master pairing guide.
What you’re working with

- Bluetooth; Wi-Fi
- Pairing protocol
- Matter (over Wi-Fi)
This bulb advertises both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Matter uses Bluetooth only for the brief commissioning handshake; the bulb runs on Wi-Fi once it’s paired. Keep BLE on your phone enabled until step four completes.
Before you start
- Your LightHub is online and on the same Wi-Fi as your phone.
- The bulb is unpacked, has a visible setup QR code or 11-digit pairing code, and isn’t already commissioned to another fabric.
- Your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz SSID. Most Matter-over-Wi-Fi bulbs cannot see 5 GHz networks during commissioning.
Pair the bulb
-
Power it on. Screw the bulb in and flip the switch on. A new unit enters commissioning mode automatically. A used unit needs a factory reset first — see If it’s already paired below.
-
Open the Rhythm app. From the home screen, tap Add Device and choose Matter. The app talks to your LightHub appliance, which performs the actual pairing.
-
Scan the setup code or paste the payload. Point the camera at the QR code on the bulb, packaging, or instruction sheet. If scanning fails, tap into the field and paste the
MT:payload or the 11-digit manual pairing code. Hyphens are stripped automatically. -
Wait fifteen to thirty seconds. The LightHub handles the BLE handshake, hands off Wi-Fi credentials it already stores, and adds the device to your Matter fabric. You don’t enter Wi-Fi credentials in this step — the appliance owns them. Keep the screen open until the success state appears.
-
Assign a room. The bulb appears with its vendor name. Drop it into a room. Pick a curve. Done.
If it’s already paired
Used bulbs and demo units stay bound to their last fabric until you factory-reset them. The recipe is brand-specific:
Five power cycles — on for one second, off for one second. The bulb pulses to confirm. If your brand uses a different recipe, the printed manual is authoritative.
After the reset, start the pairing flow from the top.
If it still won’t pair
Almost every failure is one of three things:
- The phone is on 5 GHz. Drop your phone to the 2.4 GHz SSID for the next two minutes. Some routers handle this transparently; many do not.
- AP isolation is on. Mesh routers and guest networks often block device-to-device traffic by default. Turn isolation off, pair the bulb, then turn it back on.
- The bulb is on another fabric. If the bulb has been used with Apple Home, Google Home, or SmartThings, open that app and use Matter’s Turn On Pairing Mode option. It hands you a fresh setup code that’s valid for four hours and keeps the bulb on both fabrics.
What happens after pairing
Once the bulb is on your fabric, the LightHub owns it. There’s no cloud round-trip, no vendor account, no per-brand app. The Solar Designer pushes the day’s curve to the bulb directly — warmer in the morning, cooler at noon, ember at dusk. Your job ended when you picked the room.
