This guide answers a smart-lighting or Matter lighting question and translates
it into a practical checklist for Rhythm users. If you are pairing compatible
Matter lights, the Rhythm Lighting LightHub can commission them from the
Rhythm app: choose Add Device, select Matter, then scan the
QR code or paste the MT: payload / 11-digit setup code. The
LightHub performs the commissioning handshake and keeps the device on your
Matter fabric.
Short answer
If a bulb keeps flashing every few seconds after automations are removed and it cannot be paired through Matter, HomeKit, or the vendor app, treat it as a device, power, or reset-state problem before blaming the controller. Repeated flashing can mean setup mode, a failed reset, unstable power, overheating, or a faulty unit.
Work through the basics
- Move the bulb to a simple known-good lamp or fixture with steady power.
- Remove it from every controller where it still appears, then perform the manufacturer’s full factory-reset sequence.
- Let the bulb sit powered off briefly, then try the vendor app first if the vendor requires firmware or account setup.
- Only after it is stable should you try Matter commissioning again with one controller.
- If the flashing continues in a basic fixture and pairing fails everywhere, contact support or replace the bulb.
After the device is reachable
Rhythm LightHub can commission compatible Matter lights and keep them under local room control, but it cannot repair a bulb that is browning out, stuck in reset, or rejected by its own vendor app. Get the bulb stable first, then add it to the room and scenes.
Pairing with Rhythm
For Matter lights and bulbs, the LightHub is the bridge between the app and the device during pairing. Keep the LightHub, phone, and device on the same local network, keep Bluetooth enabled when the device requires BLE commissioning, and make sure the setup code has not expired or already been used by another fabric. Once paired, the LightHub can control the device locally as part of your Rhythm setup.
