This guide answers a smart-lighting or Matter lighting question and translates
it into a practical checklist for Rhythm users. If you are pairing compatible
Matter lights, the Rhythm Lighting LightHub can commission them from the
Rhythm app: choose Add Device, select Matter, then scan the
QR code or paste the MT: payload / 11-digit setup code. The
LightHub performs the commissioning handshake and keeps the device on your
Matter fabric.
Short answer
Adding a new IKEA Matter product can disturb existing automations if the hub refreshes device bindings, schedules, or connected-product relationships. Motion sensors and bulbs may still be online, but the rule that links them can become stale.
Recovery steps
- Confirm each Myggspray sensor and Kajplats bulb still reports normally in the IKEA app.
- Open the connected-product automation and re-save the sensor-to-bulb relationship.
- Temporarily replace sunrise/sunset scheduling with an always-active test window to rule out timing logic.
- Power-cycle DIRIGERA and wait for devices to settle before editing rules again.
- If one sensor path remains broken, delete and recreate only that automation instead of resetting the whole home.
Keep room behavior layered
Use the IKEA motion rule for immediate occupancy behavior, then let Rhythm define the room’s normal brightness and color-temperature targets. That keeps one broken motion link from becoming the only way the lights know what state they should return to.
Pairing with Rhythm
For Matter lights and bulbs, the LightHub is the bridge between the app and the device during pairing. Keep the LightHub, phone, and device on the same local network, keep Bluetooth enabled when the device requires BLE commissioning, and make sure the setup code has not expired or already been used by another fabric. Once paired, the LightHub can control the device locally as part of your Rhythm setup.
