This guide answers a smart-lighting or Matter lighting question and translates it into a practical checklist for Rhythm users. If you are pairing compatible Matter lights, the Rhythm Lighting LightHub can commission them from the Rhythm app: choose Add Device, select Matter, then scan the QR code or paste the MT: payload / 11-digit setup code. The LightHub performs the commissioning handshake and keeps the device on your Matter fabric.

Short answer

If the Hue app sees the button press but the lights do not change, the switch is paired, but its room, zone, or scene assignment is broken. Focus on the accessory configuration before resetting the bridge.

Fix the assignment

  1. Open the switch settings and confirm it is assigned to the intended room or zone.
  2. Check each button action. A button can be connected but mapped to a deleted scene or empty room.
  3. Create a simple test action: one button turns one known-working light on at 50 percent.
  4. If the test works, rebuild the real actions one at a time.

If it still fails

  • Replace or recharge the switch battery if the model uses one.
  • Move the switch near the bridge or a powered Hue bulb to rule out Zigbee range.
  • Delete only the switch and pair it again. Avoid bridge resets unless the entire Hue system is broken.

Keep controls understandable

For daily lighting, map a wall control to the room people expect it to control. Use advanced multi-press actions for secondary scenes, not for basic on, off, and dimming. That makes the room usable even when guests never open the app.

Pairing with Rhythm

For Matter lights and bulbs, the LightHub is the bridge between the app and the device during pairing. Keep the LightHub, phone, and device on the same local network, keep Bluetooth enabled when the device requires BLE commissioning, and make sure the setup code has not expired or already been used by another fabric. Once paired, the LightHub can control the device locally as part of your Rhythm setup.
