In apartments with hidden routers or wall Ethernet, verify the Hue Bridge is on the same usable LAN before building lighting scenes.

A Hue Bridge can show lights on the device and still be unreachable from your phone if the Ethernet jack lands on the wrong network segment. Modern apartments often hide routers, switches, or IPTV gear in ways that make one wall port behave differently from another.

Confirm the network path

  1. Put your phone on the same Wi-Fi that serves the apartment network, not a guest SSID.
  2. Try a known router or switch port if you can access one, then compare bridge discovery.
  3. Disable VPNs or private relay features while pairing.
  4. Check whether the wall jack is meant for internet, IPTV, or building-managed service.
  5. If the apartment network blocks local discovery, ask for a bridged/local LAN option or use your own router where allowed.

Pair before layering controls

After Hue discovery works, connect the Hue rooms to Rhythm for daily lighting behavior. Rhythm depends on a reachable local hub; it cannot repair an apartment network that isolates the bridge from the phone or LightHub.
