Fix blinking Hue Play lightstrips before TV scenes

Treat repeated blinking as a power-path problem before relying on a Hue Play or Sync setup for ambient TV lighting.

Hue Play and TV lightstrips that blink as soon as they turn on are usually warning you about the power path, not the scene design. Do not build entertainment routines around a strip that only works when one output is unplugged.

Check the load path

  1. Confirm the power supply voltage, current rating, polarity, and connector match the exact Hue products attached to it.
  2. Test each strip by itself, then test the combined load.
  3. Inspect extension cables and connectors for bent pins, loose barrels, or heat damage.
  4. Replace questionable third-party adapters with a known-good supply rated for the total draw.

Keep TV lighting predictable

When the strip and Sync Box are stable, use the Hue entertainment path for screen-reactive effects. Rhythm can still own the room’s normal state before and after TV time, but it cannot compensate for an underpowered strip or a failing adapter.
