How do you run bin-day reminder colors without fighting WLED presets?

Reminder lighting gets messy when WLED presets, Home Assistant triggers, and everyday room behavior all try to own the same strip. The fix is to stop treating this as a pile of presets and make Rhythm the source of truth for the room.

What this solves

You want a few specific reminder colors on collection day.
You do not want to maintain a big library of overlapping presets just to show simple color combinations.
You want Home Assistant to trigger the reminder without leaving the strip stuck in reminder mode all day.
You want the room to return cleanly to its normal lighting curve after the reminder ends.

Before you start

Make sure the WLED strip already responds reliably through its supported LightHub path.
If you use Home Assistant, expose one stable room or light entity instead of several competing control paths.
Decide how long the reminder should stay visible before the room goes back to normal.
Pick the exact color combinations you care about, such as green plus yellow or green plus red.

Do it in Rhythm

Bring the strip into LightHub through the stable path you already trust.
Keep the everyday room on its normal Day and Sleep profiles instead of trying to encode every possible reminder as a permanent preset.
Create one temporary room override for each reminder color outcome you actually need.
Have Home Assistant trigger the matching temporary override on bin day and let it expire after a short window.
After the override ends, let Rhythm return the room to its normal curve automatically.

Avoid double automation

Do not leave WLED preset schedules and Rhythm room logic both trying to recolor the strip. If Home Assistant is the trigger and Rhythm is the room layer, WLED should stay focused on stable device control rather than owning the full reminder workflow.

When this is actually a device problem

If the strip misses colors, drops off the network, or comes back in the wrong state even when you trigger it directly, fix the controller path first. Rhythm cannot make an unreliable strip behave like a reliable room.

Keep reminder windows short and obvious.
Use high-contrast reminder colors that are easy to notice in daylight.
Let the room settle back into a normal evening or daytime state instead of leaving manual reminder colors active.
