Rhythm's adaptive engine runs on a LightBox — any device running RhythmOS. It's the brain that keeps every light on your day's rhythm, even while your phone is away or asleep. Setup is two parts: connect the LightBox, then point it at your lights.
Before you start
- A LightBox (or other RhythmOS device) powered on and on your Wi-Fi.
- Your bulbs already added to their own ecosystem — Philips Hue, Home Assistant, or Matter.
- The Rhythm app on a phone or tablet on the same network.
First launch
- Open Rhythm and tap Get Started.
- Set your home location with Use Current Location or Search by city name. This is what gives Rhythm your real sunrise and sunset times.
Connect the LightBox
- On the Home tab, Rhythm asks "Do you have a LightBox?" Tap I have one.
- Rhythm searches your network for a Rhythm Box. Pick yours from the list, or enter its IP address.
- Brand-new box? Choose Set up a new Rhythm Box for guided Bluetooth setup.
- No hardware yet? Tap Try a Virtual Experience to explore a fully populated demo first.
Add your lights
- Once the LightBox is connected, open Add Hubs.
- Philips Hue — push-link pairing: press the large button on top of the bridge within 30 seconds when prompted.
- Home Assistant — connect with a long-lived access token.
- Matter — scan the QR or enter the setup code (Matter support is in beta).
Your rooms and lights import with their existing names and appear on the Home tab. Switch the whole house between Day and Sleep with the toggle in the header, then tap a room to open it.
Rhythm talks to your hubs over the LAN, and a cloud account is optional — you can run the whole system locally.
